Company

hirify.global designs, builds, and operates LEO satellite constellations that deliver remote-sensing data for climate monitoring, environmental monitoring, and national security applications.

What you will do

  • Design, build, and operate production-grade calibration and image-processing pipelines for multispectral infrared imagery from FireSat and SBEM missions.
  • Translate dark/offset correction, non-uniformity correction, radiometric gain and linearity, bad-pixel correction, and band-registration algorithms into maintainable production software.
  • Analyze pre-launch and on-orbit calibration data to derive, validate, and trend calibration coefficients and image-quality metrics.
  • Build monitoring, alerting, automated diagnostic visualizations, unit tests, integration tests, regression tests, and quantitative validation workflows.
  • Contribute to CI/CD, deployment, containerization, observability, versioned calibration coefficients, and lookup-table management.
  • Collaborate with calibration scientists, instrument engineers, and product teams on FireSat commissioning and SBEM pre-launch and on-orbit calibration campaigns.

Requirements

  • PhD with 3+ years, MS with 6+ years, or BS with 8+ years of industry experience.
  • 4+ years of experience calibrating imaging instruments and hands-on experience with complex data from new imaging instruments.
  • Experience shipping and operating production scientific data or analytics pipelines with monitoring, logging, alerting, and automated testing.
  • Experience converting scientific, numerical, calibration, image-processing, or signal-processing algorithms from prototypes into tested production code.
  • Exceptional Python software engineering skills, including packaging, pytest or comparable testing frameworks, version control, code review, and CI/CD.
  • Strong grounding in statistics, applied mathematics, instrument physics, radiometric error budgets, and automated quality visualization.

Nice to have

  • Experience with mid-wave infrared instruments, MWIR data processing, and radiometric, spectral, or geometric calibration of on-orbit imaging instruments.
  • Knowledge of remote sensing, radiometric calibration, SI traceability, uncertainty analysis, detector characterization, and calibration campaign design.
  • Experience with XArray, COG, NetCDF, Plotly, Panel, Streamlit, or Grafana.
  • Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, Airflow, Prefect, Argo, AWS, infrastructure-as-code, TB-scale datasets, or geospatial analytics.

Culture & Benefits

  • Full-time employment with equity compensation.
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance, plus a 401(k) retirement plan.
  • Short- and long-term disability and life insurance.
  • Three weeks of paid vacation for new employees, 12 paid holidays, unlimited sick time, and paid parental leave.
  • Work in a fast-paced startup environment with a distributed, interdisciplinary team.

Hiring process

  • Compensation is finalized based on skills, qualifications, experience, and geographic location during the interview process.
  • Applicants may request reasonable accommodation for the application or interview process.
