Senior Manager, Battery Engineering - Customer Technical Solutions (Battery Engineering)

Location: Alameda, California, United States; onsite. Up to 25% domestic and international travel is required.

Base pay: $185,000–$234,000 per year, excluding benefits, equity, bonuses, and other rewards.

What you will do

• Build, recruit, mentor, and manage a high-performing team of battery engineers.
• Lead customer integration and qualification efforts with cell manufacturers and consumer and automotive OEMs.
• Guide technical adoption, troubleshoot integration challenges, and support the transition from sample testing to commercial deployment.
• Align customer requirements, technical roadmaps, and market intelligence across commercial and internal teams.
• Establish prioritization frameworks, streamline decisions, and protect engineering team capacity.

Requirements

• 3+ years of direct management or team lead experience, including growing engineers and setting team direction.
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in engineering, materials science, or a related physical science; an advanced degree may substitute for industry experience.
• 6+ years of industry experience supporting customer technical adoption, qualification, or integration of advanced materials or complex technologies.
• Strong understanding of lithium-ion batteries, cell components, and materials, or the ability to quickly learn complex electrochemical systems.
• Ability to communicate technical trade-offs to executives, cross-functional partners, external customers, and commercial leads.
• Ability to work onsite in Alameda and travel domestically and internationally up to 25%.
