TL;DR
Cloud Engineer (AWS): Designing, administering, monitoring, and securing AWS GovCloud infrastructure for Navy and Department of Defense aviation systems with an accent on CloudWatch observability, Kubernetes administration, automation, and cybersecurity compliance. Focus on building resilient cloud environments, automating infrastructure with Terraform and Python, conducting disaster recovery exercises, and supporting DoD authorization requirements.
Location: Lexington Park, Maryland, United States
Salary: $130,000–$190,000 per year

What you will do
- Administer AWS GovCloud infrastructure, including EC2, S3, FSx, VPC networking, IAM, and AWS Systems Manager.
- Design CloudWatch monitoring, dashboards, log aggregation, alarms, metric filters, and event-driven remediation workflows.
- Deploy and maintain Windows Server, Linux, containers, Kubernetes clusters, Docker images, Helm packages, and secure container registries.
- Configure, test, and document disaster recovery capabilities, failover procedures, multi-region replication, and recovery exercises.
- Harden cloud and operating-system environments and support FedRAMP, NIST 800-53, DISA STIG, and DoD Risk Management Framework activities.
- Coordinate with engineering, cybersecurity, application, operations, and government stakeholders on system resilience, monitoring, and authorization.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree, or relevant additional experience accepted under contract requirements.
- At least three years of specialized AWS GovCloud or AWS Secret Region administration experience in a government environment.
- Experience with CloudWatch, AWS CLI, Systems Manager, IAM, EC2, VPC, Windows Server, Linux, containers, Kubernetes, Terraform, Python, or Bash.
- Knowledge of DISA STIGs, DoD Risk Management Framework requirements, and military disaster recovery planning standards.
- AWS Certified SysOps Administrator – Associate and CompTIA Security+ or another approved IAT Level II certification are required before onboarding.
- Ability to maintain technical procedures, architecture information, monitoring documentation, and system-administration records.
Nice to have
- AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate.
- Experience supporting Navy, Marine Corps, NAVAIR, or other DoD enterprise systems.
- Experience with DoD Impact Levels 5 or 6, PLM or complex COTS applications, disaster recovery exercises, RMF authorization packages, or continuous monitoring.
- Experience integrating IT service management and automated incident-notification workflows.
