Run Performance Graduate Internship, Run Research Team - Winter 2027 (Biomechanics)

Location: On-site at Brooks headquarters in Seattle, Washington, United States. Six-month internship beginning January 4, January 11, or January 18, 2027; 40 hours per week.

Compensation: $33.00 per hour.

What you will do

• Collect and process human-subject data using 3D motion capture for running research.
• Conduct biomechanical, metabolic, and mechanical testing of materials and complete footwear using Instron equipment.
• Write code in Python or Visual 3D to analyze mechanical and biomechanical data and create kinematic and kinetic models.
• Conduct human movement studies and use graduate-level research skills to improve testing procedures and product performance.
• Mine historical dashboards and analyze findings to recommend product improvements to Development, Design, Merchandising, and product teams.
• Prepare scientific reports and present research findings and recommendations to senior leadership.

Requirements

• Master's degree in biomechanics, kinesiology, exercise science, or an equivalent analytical field.
• Commitment to six months of onsite work in Seattle, with up to 40 hours per week physically present at headquarters.
• Hands-on experience in a biomechanics or human-subject research lab using 3D motion capture.
• Experience with materials testing and stress/strain testing protocols.
• Strong quantitative, data mining, report-building, communication, organizational, and collaboration skills.
• Experience with Python, MATLAB, Visual 3D, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; Python is preferred.
