Senior Mechanical Development & Test Engineer I (Aerospace)

Location: Long Beach, California, United States; based at hirify.global's headquarters

Base salary: $115,200–$158,400 USD annually. Total compensation including equity: $135,475–$194,075 USD annually.

What you will do

• Lead qualification test campaigns for avionics boxes, complex mechanisms, and integrated spacecraft.
• Develop and insert high-volume acceptance test infrastructure into the production floor.
• Design complex Mechanical Ground Support Equipment (MGSE) for test implementation.
• Implement and validate hands-on test infrastructure and advise on test capabilities, limits, and future needs.
• Manage test projects, including resourcing, scheduling, and budgeting.
• Collaborate with design and test engineers to define requirements and iterate test concepts.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or another engineering discipline.
• 5+ years of engineering experience in the aerospace industry.
• Experience with NX Nastran, NX CAD, and Teamcenter.
• Experience with component- and system-level environmental testing, test automation, and post-test data analysis.
• For work in U.S. offices, eligibility under U.S. ITAR regulations is required, including U.S. citizenship, lawful permanent residence, refugee or asylum status, or eligibility to obtain the required authorizations.
• Ability to work through prolonged periods of sitting, standing, walking, computer work, and occasional exposure to noise, dust, and fumes in production areas.

Nice to have

• Master's or PhD in mechanical engineering or another engineering discipline.
• Experience with Confluence and JIRA.
• Python experience for automation and data analysis.
• Experience leading engineers and technicians.
