Distinguished Engineer - Endpoint Access Agents (Cybersecurity)

Location: Santa Clara, California, United States of America. Most teams work from the office full time.

Annual base salary: $248,700–$341,250, with potential restricted stock units and bonus.

What you will do

• Define the unified platform architecture for GlobalProtect, Prisma Access Agent, ADEM, and other endpoint clients across Windows, macOS, Linux, iOS, and Android.
• Architect shared networking, cryptography, configuration, telemetry, IPC, and core application layers.
• Create secure plugin and extension models for authentication methods, protocols, and tunnel types.
• Establish architecture standards for peer identity, least-privilege decomposition, error handling, and memory safety.
• Integrate AI-driven design, development, crash triage, defect verification, and regression testing into release pipelines.
• Set engineering standards, author architectural decision records, mentor senior and principal engineers, and influence customers and engineering partners.

Requirements

• Accomplished leadership in endpoint systems, core networking, or OS-level software development.
• Experience defining cross-product architecture adopted by multiple product groups.
• Expert hands-on knowledge of at least two target platforms, including Windows, macOS, or Linux internals.
• Proven ability to refactor complex C/C++ codebases into modular, testable components.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to align senior engineers and executives.
• Ability to work from the Santa Clara, California office location.

Nice to have

• Experience with VPN, ZTNA, or SASE client technologies, including IPsec/IKEv2, TLS/DTLS, QUIC/MASQUE, split tunneling, or posture assessment.
• Experience shipping multi-platform agents at scale with staged rollouts and telemetry-backed observability.
• Experience integrating AI or ML models into software engineering workflows.
