Lead Backend Software Engineer

Location: Hybrid in San Francisco or Seattle, United States

Annual base compensation: $130,000–$196,500

What you will do

• Lead the engineering team building a next-generation data processing platform from the ground up.
• Migrate complex existing use cases into the new platform.
• Architect and implement scalable platform systems.
• Support production systems and diagnose technical problems.
• Lead, mentor, and collaborate with engineers and stakeholders across scaled initiatives.

Requirements

• 5+ years of backend software engineering experience.
• Experience with one or more object-oriented languages, including Java, Go, or C++.
• Experience with Kubernetes, containers, and GCP or another cloud provider.
• Experience with continuous integration and automation servers such as Jenkins or CircleCI.
• Ability to debug code, automate routine tasks, and lead and mentor engineers.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.

Nice to have

• Working knowledge of observability principles.
• Experience with AWS or Azure.
• Experience establishing engineering best practices and mentoring junior engineers.
