Director, Commercial Data & Analytics Architecture (Pharmaceutical)

Location: New York City, United States; hybrid work assignment. Candidates must have permanent authorization to work in the United States. U.S. work visa sponsorship is not available.

Annual base salary: $162,900–$271,500, plus eligibility for a 20% performance bonus and share-based long-term incentives.

What you will do

• Own the commercial analytics data model, including standardized domains, conformed dimensions, governed identity spines, and certified data products.
• Define federated development standards, data contracts, metric certification, and automated data quality and contract testing.
• Set technology direction for storage, compute, transformation, orchestration, CI/CD, cataloging, lineage, semantic tooling, and infrastructure.
• Remain hands-on by writing reference implementations, reviewing code, prototyping capabilities, and approving partner and internal implementations.
• Design sandbox-to-production promotion, access, service account, observability, onboarding, and legacy asset decommissioning approaches.
• Translate architecture decisions into recommendations for commercial analytics leaders and executive sponsors.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in data architecture, data engineering, or analytics engineering with substantial hands-on delivery; alternative requirements apply for advanced degrees.
• High proficiency in SQL and Python, including production coding and code review.
• Experience with modern cloud data warehouses, preferably Snowflake, transformation frameworks, orchestration, and CI/CD for data pipelines.
• Experience designing data contracts, conformed data models, metric registries, or semantic layers used by multiple teams.
• Experience acting as design authority for vendor or partner implementations in a large enterprise.
• Experience with commercial pharmaceutical or life sciences data and the ability to present architecture recommendations to senior business leaders.

Nice to have

• Advanced degree in computer science, engineering, information systems, or a related quantitative field.
• Experience with regulated industries, data catalog and lineage tools such as Collibra, and metric governance workflows.
• Experience preparing governed data and semantics for LLM or agent-based consumption, including grounding, retrieval, and drift detection.
• Experience with federated or data mesh operating models and organization-wide reference implementations, templates, and runbooks.
