Assistant Professor of Mathematics Education

Location: hirify.global, United States; in-person faculty responsibilities include teaching, advising, committee work, and outreach.

What you will do

• Conduct a research program in secondary mathematics education and publish findings in high-quality venues.
• Seek external funding for research and education projects.
• Teach lower-division, upper-division, and graduate mathematics education and mathematics content courses, including online and in-person courses for practicing teachers.
• Advise undergraduate and graduate students and serve on master's and doctoral committees.
• Contribute to department, college, and university service, professional organizations, and mathematics education outreach in Montana.

Requirements

• Ph.D. in Mathematics Education or the mathematical sciences with a research program focused on secondary mathematics education, earned by August 14, 2027.
• Master's degree in mathematical sciences or an equivalent qualification, with appropriate coursework in applied or theoretical mathematics or statistics.
• Demonstrated research potential aligned with secondary mathematics education.
• Demonstrated teaching potential in mathematics and potential to mentor and advise undergraduate and graduate students.
• Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills and a commitment to working with students and colleagues from all backgrounds.

Nice to have

• Experience with pre-service or in-service secondary mathematics teacher programs or teaching mathematics at the secondary level.
• Experience teaching at lower-division, upper-division, and graduate levels.
• Experience mentoring graduate students and developing an independent research program.
• Potential to secure external research funding.
• Experience or interest in interdisciplinary collaboration.
