Senior Accountant (Biotech)

Location: San Diego, California, US; onsite five days per week

Salary: $115,000–$130,000 annually

What you will do

• Manage and support monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes.
• Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, accruals, and supporting schedules.
• Analyze balance sheet and income statement accounts, investigate variances, and prepare management reporting packages.
• Process payroll and expense reports and review accounts payable activities and period-end processes.
• Support audits, including preparation of audit schedules and coordination with external auditors.
• Strengthen internal controls and implement improvements to accounting systems, processes, and reporting.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 4+ years of progressive accounting experience, including public accounting experience.
• Experience with month-end and year-end close, reconciliations, journal entries, accruals, and financial statement analysis.
• Hands-on experience with payroll, accounts payable, expense reporting, and operational accounting.
• Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookups, and financial analysis, plus experience with an ERP system such as NetSuite.
• Ability to work onsite in San Diego, California.

Nice to have

• Big 4 accounting firm experience.
• Biotechnology, pharmaceutical, life sciences, or another highly regulated industry background.
• CPA certification or CPA eligibility.
• Experience accounting for R&D activities, clinical trials, and CRO or vendor relationships.
