TL;DR
Senior Healthcare Business Analyst – Medical Coding (CPC/CCS) (Healthcare/Medical Coding): Supporting CPT/HCPCS and ICD-10 code maintenance, Medicaid policy analysis, and healthcare process improvements with an accent on coding methodologies, requirements analysis, and process documentation. Focus on researching annual and quarterly CMS updates, preparing code-change recommendations, maintaining business rules and models, and collaborating with policy owners and stakeholders.

Location: Columbia, South Carolina, United States; hybrid work

What you will do

  • Initiate and review annual and quarterly CMS updates covering ICD-10 and CPT/HCPCS coding changes.
  • Prepare code-change listings for Reference Administration and Medicaid Program staff.
  • Research business rules, requirements, and models and develop initial analyses and recommendations.
  • Maintain business rules, requirements, and models in a repository.
  • Collaborate with agency personnel, stakeholders, process owners, and project teams.
  • Support process documentation, training content updates, and claim escalation research after achieving proficiency.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a healthcare-related field or an approved equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Current CPC or CCS credential required.
  • At least 3 years of healthcare experience.
  • Strong knowledge of ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS translation, and medical coding methodologies.
  • At least 3 years of experience with anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, medical terminology, and formal business process documentation.
  • Strong analytical, collaboration, relationship-building, and multitasking skills.

Nice to have

  • Healthcare experience in hospital, office, and clinic settings.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with Optum Encoder or other medical coding software.
  • Clinical background.
