Accuracy Checking Dispenser (Digital Pharmacy)

Salary: £35,000–£36,000 per year

What you will do

• Carry out final accuracy checks on dispensed prescriptions before supply to patients.
• Verify the patient, medicine, strength, formulation, quantity, directions, labelling, and assembly against prescriptions and procedures.
• Identify and escalate discrepancies, near misses, dispensing errors, and issues requiring referral to the Responsible Pharmacist.
• Support the safe checking of controlled drugs, unlicensed medicines, and higher-risk medications.
• Complete expiry date, batch number, packaging integrity, and record-keeping checks.
• Work with dispensers, pharmacists, and the wider pharmacy team to resolve queries and improve quality.

Requirements

• Accredited Accuracy Checking Dispenser qualification recognised for pharmacy dispensing practice.
• Previous experience performing final accuracy checks in a pharmacy environment.
• Strong knowledge of dispensing processes, pharmacy legislation, SOPs, governance, and patient safety.
• Excellent attention to detail and the ability to maintain accuracy in a busy, high-volume environment.
• Confidence to challenge discrepancies, escalate concerns, work independently, and communicate effectively with the pharmacy team.
• Patient-focused, proactive, and willing to take ownership of responsibilities.

Nice to have

• Experience in digital, online, high-volume, or private pharmacy.

• Full-time, onsite position working 40 hours per week.
• Monday to Friday, with Saturdays included in the shift pattern or available as overtime.
