Senior Product Security Software / Firmware Engineer (Secure Boot)

Location: Sunnyvale, California, United States; hybrid with 2–3 days onsite per week. Onsite presence is required because key management activities operate in a highly secured environment.

Salary: USD 136,500–276,500 annual base salary in California, excluding possible variable incentives.

What you will do

• Design, develop, test, and integrate complex firmware and product security solutions.
• Architect and implement secure firmware features across embedded and platform environments.
• Lead technical direction and cross-functional engineering initiatives.
• Review system designs, code, and validation strategies for security, quality, and reliability compliance.
• Collaborate with internal and external engineering teams on secure, scalable platform solutions.
• Mentor junior engineers and evaluate emerging security technologies for future products.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• 8+ years of software, firmware, or embedded systems development experience.
• Strong proficiency in C/C++ and extensive experience with embedded system development and debugging.
• Knowledge of firmware architecture, hardware-based security technologies, cryptographic algorithms, TPM technologies, and TCG standards.
• Experience creating test plans, debugging complex issues, and developing validation tools.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and technical leadership skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with Secure Boot architectures, UEFI, and U-Boot.
• Knowledge of hardware security modules, hardware roots of trust, cryptographic systems, key management, and digital signatures.
• Familiarity with Post-Quantum Cryptography algorithms and emerging security standards.
• Experience designing secure platform architectures for enterprise or consumer devices.
• Experience with Python, Rust, Bash, or Shell scripting.
