What you will do

  • Design and implement secure boot chains from firmware through OS initialization for CPUs, BMCs, switches, and peripherals.
  • Architect attestation systems providing cryptographic proof of system state from hardware root of trust to the application layer.
  • Develop measured boot implementations and runtime integrity monitoring.
  • Create reference architectures and security requirements for bare-metal deployments.
  • Conduct firmware vulnerability assessments and penetration testing.
  • Collaborate with hardware and software vendors to ensure security capabilities meet infrastructure requirements.

Requirements

  • Hands-on experience with secure boot, measured boot, and attestation technologies (TPM, Intel TXT, AMD SEV, ARM TrustZone).
  • Proficiency in low-level programming (C, Rust, Assembly) and systems programming.
  • Strong understanding of cryptographic protocols and hardware security modules.
  • Experience with UEFI/BIOS or embedded firmware security and bootloader hardening.
  • Must be based in or able to work from San Francisco, New York City, or Seattle (hybrid policy: at least 25% office presence).
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent professional experience.

Nice to have

  • 8+ years of experience in systems security, with 5+ years focused on firmware and hardware.
  • Experience with confidential computing and hardware-based TEEs.
  • Knowledge of SLSA framework and software supply chain security standards.
  • Contributions to open-source security projects such as coreboot or CHIPSEC.
  • Background in formal verification or security proof techniques.
