TL;DR
Senior Financial Analyst (Financial Planning/Accounting): Supporting the Faculty of Arts with complex financial analysis, reporting, budgeting, and long-term planning with an accent on internal controls, account reconciliation, and policy compliance. Focus on developing financial models, resolving discrepancies, advising academic units, and improving accounting systems and processes.

Location: hirify.global Vancouver Campus, Vancouver, BC, Canada

Salary: $7,158.42–$10,292.25 CAD monthly

What you will do

  • Develop complex financial models, analyses, projections, and reports for Faculty of Arts units.
  • Prepare annual budgets, quarterly forecasts, and five-year financial plans for departments and graduate programs.
  • Provide strategic accounting and financial planning advice to department heads, directors, administrators, and principal investigators.
  • Manage year-end accounting activities, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, accruals, reconciliations, and audit documentation.
  • Develop financial policies, procedures, and internal controls, and recommend operational improvements.
  • Support system implementations, upgrades, testing, training, and the resolution of financial discrepancies and deficit issues.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline.
  • Minimum three years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Enrollment in the CPA Professional Education Program modules.
  • Knowledge of general ledger activity, fund accounting, financial controls, budgeting, financial planning, audit, and policy interpretation.
  • Ability to analyze complex financial data, prepare reports, reconcile accounts, resolve discrepancies, and exercise sound judgment.
  • Advanced proficiency with financial software, databases, spreadsheets, word processing, and enterprise resource planning systems such as Workday.

Nice to have

  • Completion of the CPA Accounting program or CA, CGA, or CMA designation.
  • Experience with grant administration, contracts, government regulations, payroll, and audit procedures.
