Principal Mobile Application Developer (React Native)

Salary: $190,000–$210,000 USD annually

What you will do

• Own the mobile application architecture for new products, including feature architecture, device experiences, pairing, provisioning, and consumer-facing behavior.
• Build hands-on with React Native, Expo, and TypeScript for iOS and Android.
• Define capability-based device models, reusable components, libraries, semantic theming, and engineering patterns.
• Partner with embedded, cloud, hardware, and product teams to onboard and support connected devices.
• Own testing, automation, crash and performance targets, staged releases, and production issue resolution.
• Lead technical research, prototypes, design decisions, mentoring, and adoption of AI-assisted engineering practices.

Requirements

• 8+ years of software engineering experience with deep React Native and TypeScript expertise at consumer scale.
• Experience owning mobile application architecture from design through launch and long-term support.
• Strong knowledge of mobile-to-cloud architecture, API contracts, caching, real-time synchronization, retries, and unreliable connections.
• Experience with Xcode, Android Studio, Git, Gradle, CocoaPods, Swift Package Manager, CI/CD, staged rollout, and production diagnostics.
• Native-level working knowledge of Swift and/or Kotlin for debugging across the bridge and implementing platform-specific behavior.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.

Nice to have

• Experience with Expo Router, typed routes, config plugins, custom native modules, TanStack Query, and Reanimated.
• Experience with binary protocols, connected devices, IoT ecosystems, BLE, and WiFi provisioning.
• Experience with Rust, C, C++, robotics, consumer electronics, or smart home products.
• Experience launching a hardware product’s app experience from zero to production.
• Experience using AI-assisted development tools for design, coding, and testing.
