Senior Principal Software Engineer - CRDN (Medical Devices)

Location: Mounds View, Minnesota, United States; on-site 4 days per week with less than 10% travel. U.S. work authorization is required; sponsorship is offered for Principal-level roles and above. Salary coverage excludes Puerto Rico and specific California locations.

Salary: $178,400–$267,600 per year, plus eligibility for the hirify.global Incentive Plan.

What you will do

• Architect, design, develop, test, maintain, and scale embedded software for next-generation medical devices using Agile and Scrum.
• Define architectural standards, design patterns, APIs, data models, integration approaches, and engineering best practices.
• Make technical decisions aligned with long-term platform and business strategy while optimizing performance, reliability, scalability, security, privacy, and compliance.
• Lead risk assessment and requirements development activities and follow medical device regulations including IEC 62304, IEC 82304, and FDA requirements.
• Collaborate with hardware, systems, integration, testing, quality, and system verification and validation partners.
• Provide technical leadership, mentorship, engineering problem-solving, innovation, retrospectives, and continuous process improvement.

Requirements

• 10+ years of technical leadership experience and experience developing medical device software.
• Strong expertise in C++, Python, and C#.
• Experience with Linux OS, PetaLinux, Yocto, FreeRTOS, containers, and various operating systems and tools.
• Strong knowledge of secure SDLC practices and software risk management.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer engineering, electrical engineering, computer science, engineering, or a related technical discipline plus at least 10 years of work experience, or an advanced degree in a related technical discipline plus 8 years of work experience.
• Ability to work on-site in Mounds View, Minnesota four days per week and travel less than 10%.
• U.S. work authorization is required; Principal-level roles and above may qualify for H-1B, TN, J, or other sponsorship.
