Assistant/Associate Professor, Mechanical Engineering

Location: Corpus Christi, Texas, United States; 9-month tenure-track faculty appointment beginning Fall 2027.

What you will do

• Teach mechanical engineering courses and develop and refine curriculum.
• Mentor undergraduate and graduate students.
• Develop and lead a research program in the applicant’s area of mechanical engineering.
• Contribute to the development of the new Ph.D. in Engineering program.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary researchers and support engineering education across the department’s academic programs.

Requirements

• Earned doctoral degree in mechanical engineering or a related field; advanced ABD candidates may be considered for the assistant rank if the degree is conferred by the appointment date.
• Established record of scholarship with significant journal publications appropriate to the candidate’s level.
• Research and teaching background or interest in solid mechanics, mechanical systems design, manufacturing processes, or rigid-body mechanics and dynamical systems analysis.
• For the associate rank: five years of full-time university faculty experience, including at least four years as an assistant professor; related professional experience may substitute in rare cases.
• Employment is based in Corpus Christi, Texas. All positions are security-sensitive and require a criminal history investigation and credential verification.
