TL;DR
Flight Analysis Engineer II (Mission Formulation) (Aerospace): Developing trajectory simulations, mission concepts, flight safety analyses, and operational tools for Electron and HASTE launches with an accent on orbital and suborbital trajectory design, Monte Carlo analysis, and hardware-in-the-loop testing. Focus on defining mission safety rules, verifying Autonomous Flight Termination System readiness, automating modelling workflows, and supporting launch operations.

Location: Long Beach, California; based out of the hirify.global office in Denver, Colorado. US office candidates must meet ITAR eligibility requirements and be a US citizen, lawful permanent resident, qualifying refugee/asylee, or eligible to obtain the required authorizations.

Base salary: $115,000–$144,000 USD annually. Total compensation including equity: $125,000–$161,000 USD annually.

What you will do

  • Develop launch and mission operational concepts for Electron and HASTE missions.
  • Design and analyze orbital and suborbital trajectories using numerical modelling, simulation, and Monte Carlo methods.
  • Work with customers and external stakeholders on mission-specific requirements engineering.
  • Support hardware-in-the-loop testing and verify trajectory and flight safety system configurations.
  • Conduct pre-launch flight safety analyses, provide day-of-launch support, and develop bespoke mission safety rules.
  • Develop automation tools and processes for modelling and analysis, and support proposals and mission definition.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • Experience with numerical modelling and simulation, probability and statistics, multiphysics, or similar analytical fields.
  • Experience with data analysis using Python, SciPy, or similar tools.
  • Experience developing with Linux and using Git-based version control.
  • Fundamental knowledge of atmospheric flight, flight dynamics, or orbital mechanics.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a US Department of Defense Secret security clearance and meet applicable ITAR eligibility requirements.

Nice to have

  • Active TS/SCI clearance or an advanced engineering degree.
  • Experience with C/C++, trajectory optimization, mission analysis, vehicle design, or simulation tools.
  • Experience with RF simulation, modelling, link budget analysis, or electrical systems.
  • Experience with HITL testing, AFTS, FAA flight safety regulations, or 3DOF atmospheric propagators.
  • Strong communication skills and experience working on fast-paced design and development projects.
