Mission Design and Flight Dynamics Manager (Aerospace)

Location: Boulder County, United States; onsite

Salary: $170,000–$230,000 per year

What you will do

• Build, lead, and mentor the mission design and flight dynamics team, including hiring, career development, technical standards, and roadmap ownership.
• Serve as the technical authority for mission design, trajectory analysis, orbit determination, and maneuver decisions from concept through end of mission.
• Translate customer objectives into executable mission concepts, CONOPS, feasibility studies, proposals, and customer-facing technical content.
• Lead trajectory design and optimization across propulsion types and mission regimes, balancing delta-v, time of flight, operational complexity, and navigation sensitivity.
• Support spacecraft operations through maneuver planning, execution, reconstruction, conjunction assessment, and contingency response.
• Develop production-quality tools and automation for propagation, targeting, orbit determination, maneuver reconstruction, visualization, and scalable flight dynamics operations.

Requirements

• B.S. in aerospace engineering, astrodynamics, physics, applied mathematics, or a related field.
• 10+ years of experience in spacecraft flight dynamics, astrodynamics, or mission design.
• Experience supporting spacecraft operations or mission-critical events and communicating complex technical trades to customers, executives, and non-specialists.
• Proficiency in Python and/or C++ and demonstrated experience developing production-quality technical software.
• Must be a U.S. Person or eligible to obtain an export license under applicable U.S. export regulations, including ITAR and EAR.

Nice to have

• M.S. or Ph.D. in aerospace engineering or a related field.
• Experience with GEO, cislunar, or interplanetary missions and low-thrust trajectory optimization.
• Experience with orbit determination filters, DSN-based navigation, optical navigation, or deep-space tracking.
• Experience automating flight dynamics pipelines, customer-facing proposals, spacecraft build, payload integration, or CAD-based fit checks.
• Leadership experience in a startup environment.
