TL;DR
Field Medical Associate Director Oncology (Biotech): Developing and executing oncology medical engagement strategies while leading MSL capability development, KOL relationships, and field medical operations with an accent on scientific exchange, strategic planning, and team performance. Focus on coaching MSLs, analyzing field insights, managing KPIs and budgets, and coordinating cross-functional medical affairs initiatives across Canada and North America.

Location: Remote field position based in Toronto, Ontario, Canada; travel required up to 75% of the time, primarily domestically with some travel within North America.

Salary range: 158,200.00–208,200.00, including target bonus.

What you will do

  • Develop and implement oncology MSL strategy, resource plans, annual objectives, KPIs, field tools, and operating processes.
  • Lead MSL capability development through coaching, training, competency analysis, performance management, and career planning.
  • Build and execute regional and country medical engagement plans with internal stakeholders and head-office partners.
  • Support MSL identification, mapping, and engagement planning with key opinion leaders and other external stakeholders.
  • Review and communicate scientific, medical, and field insights to Medical Affairs and cross-functional partners.
  • Manage MSL resources, budgets, vendors, reporting, compliance, and effectiveness initiatives.

Requirements

  • Accredited university degree such as MSc, PhD, PharmD, or MD.
  • At least 5 years of total experience, including at least 3 years in oncology.
  • Prior MSL or other field-based or head-office medical experience.
  • People management experience, preferably in a field medical role.
  • Strategic thinking, people leadership, coaching, stakeholder engagement, cross-functional collaboration, and strong compliance and ethics.
  • Written and spoken English required; French is a definite asset.

Nice to have

  • Specialization in hematological diseases.
  • Post-bachelor’s degree such as an MBA or equivalent.
