TL;DR
Director, Medical Publications and Scientific Communications (Biotech): Developing and managing scientific communication plans, publications, abstracts, congress presentations, and medical content for oncology products with an accent on scientific accuracy, compliance, and product lifecycle support. Focus on translating complex clinical and scientific data into actionable insights, coordinating cross-functional stakeholders and vendors, and supporting critical product launches.

Location: Woburn, Massachusetts; hybrid or remote. Domestic and international travel may be required up to 20%.

Base salary: $208,000–$269,000 per year, plus potential performance incentive bonus and equity.

What you will do

  • Develop, manage, and track scientific communication and medical communication plans.
  • Support the development and review of abstracts, publications, congress presentations, monographs, and other medical communications.
  • Ensure scientific and medical content is accurate, strategically aligned, timely, compelling, and compliant with relevant policies.
  • Build therapeutic expertise across disease epidemiology, products, competitors, and the latest scientific data.
  • Generate and disseminate actionable scientific insights to internal stakeholders and key customer segments, especially for product launches.
  • Collaborate with clinical, Medical Affairs, and other internal teams while overseeing scientific information repositories and vendor-supported projects.

Requirements

  • Relevant scientific or healthcare degree, such as a PhD or PharmD.
  • More than 5 years of experience in the biopharmaceutical industry, preferably in a matrix organization.
  • More than 3 years of Medical Affairs experience, preferably in medical communications or publications.
  • Strong knowledge of medical communications approaches and best practices.
  • Familiarity with regulatory and legal guidelines for medical communications strategy and execution.
  • Ability to interpret and communicate complex scientific information, solve problems, and work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Nice to have

  • Experience managing vendors and projects.
  • Experience supporting product launches and working with oncology or related therapeutic data.
