Instruments Support Engineer (Molecular Diagnostics)

Location: Fully remote from the United Kingdom; travel 15% within Europe and occasionally outside Europe, including on-site customer visits as needed.

What you will do

• Provide advanced technical support by phone, email, and web for diagnostic instrument hardware, software, configuration, connectivity, and related assay workflows.
• Investigate complex customer issues by collecting information, reproducing problems, documenting findings, and applying structured root cause analysis.
• Troubleshoot instrument functionality, peripherals, network communication, system logs, and LIS/middleware connectivity.
• Prioritize critical cases and restore system uptime through remote support and occasional on-site customer visits.
• Share troubleshooting expertise, update knowledge resources, mentor colleagues, and support technical training.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience in Biomedical Engineering, Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, Life Sciences, or a related field.
• 2–3 years of experience in healthcare, biomedical engineering, or medical device support, with knowledge of the diagnostic market.
• Experience troubleshooting complex instruments and systems, including hardware, mechanical, electronic, firmware, software, configuration, or peripheral components.
• Background in medical technology, medical devices, diagnostics, healthcare technology, laboratory systems, or related technical platforms.
• Must be based in the United Kingdom for this fully remote role.

Nice to have

• Experience with CRM or complaint-handling systems such as Salesforce for technical support case management.
• Basic knowledge of diagnostic and laboratory workflows, PCR-based testing, samples, reagents, and assay performance.
• Additional European language proficiency, such as French, German, or Spanish.
