AI Platform Engineer

Location: Nairobi, Kenya; remote, with the possibility of in-person work depending on location. Stakeholders operate across GMT-8 to GMT+3, requiring occasional early or late meetings.

What you will do

• Administer IRC enterprise AI environments, including Anthropic Claude and OpenAI deployments.
• Manage user access, API keys, workspace configurations, environment settings, and change procedures.
• Monitor uptime, error rates, token consumption, API performance, and integration reliability while troubleshooting operational issues.
• Build and maintain Python and/or JavaScript/TypeScript scripts, connectors, automations, and REST API integrations.
• Collaborate with DevOps, software engineering, data engineering, and InfoSec on deployments, data flows, security reviews, and compliance.
• Maintain runbooks, SOPs, architecture notes, dependency maps, and technical guidance for AI rollouts.

Requirements

• Hands-on experience administering enterprise AI platforms such as Anthropic, OpenAI, Azure OpenAI, or comparable tools.
• Knowledge of LLM application infrastructure, including prompt pipelines, Model Context Protocol, tool-calling frameworks, vector databases, RAG patterns, and embedding workflows.
• Proficiency in Python and/or JavaScript for scripting, automation, and lightweight integrations.
• Experience with REST APIs, authentication, webhooks, error handling, Git, deployment practices, monitoring, alerting, logs, and production troubleshooting.
• Working knowledge of SaaS and API security, including access controls, credential management, data handling, and audit logging.
• Ability to communicate clearly with non-technical colleagues and collaborate across engineering, product, data, operations, and InfoSec teams.

• Experience with Databricks or comparable data and machine-learning platforms.
