Rock Engineering Technician

Location: Dishaba Mine, Thabazimbi, South Africa

What you will do

• Conduct regular underground visits to monitor strata conditions, support standards, mining compliance, and stability.
• Audit support and pillar standards, identify potential strata control problems, and report findings to the Strata Control Officer.
• Support investigations into rock engineering incidents and accidents, compile technical reports, and maintain RMR data.
• Coordinate rock engineering projects, support technology trials, change management, training, and operational implementation.
• Monitor and coordinate seismic monitoring systems, fault identification, troubleshooting, servicing, and upgrades.
• Manage project administration, procurement, supplier liaison, expenditure tracking, compliance records, action plans, and audit evidence.

Requirements

• Grade 12 with Mathematics and Science.
• Regular underground site visits and in-person work at Dishaba Mine are required.
• Ability to monitor underground conditions, support safety standards, and identify strata control risks.
• Ability to coordinate technical projects and collaborate with mining, training, suppliers, and other stakeholders.
