Staff AI Research Engineer (Digital Health)

Base pay: $184,600–$253,550 USD annually, with annual bonus eligibility and benefits.

What you will do

• Research and develop AI/ML algorithms and foundation models for physiological signal processing, sensor fusion, and digital biomarkers in wearable health applications.
• Design deep learning and statistical models for multimodal biosignals, including EEG, ECG, PPG, and motion data, in real-time and batch settings.
• Scale algorithms and model training across large, multi-terabyte wearable and biomedical datasets using AWS, GCP, Azure, and distributed computing environments.
• Collaborate with hardware and software engineers to integrate models into wearable platforms and enable efficient on-device inference.
• Conduct feasibility studies, benchmark AI-driven features, and validate model accuracy, robustness, scalability, and performance across diverse populations.
• Generate patents and scientific publications while working with clinical and regulatory teams on healthcare standards and compliance.

Requirements

• PhD in AI, machine learning, biomedical engineering, computer science, or a related field, or equivalent education, training, and experience.
• 3+ years of experience in data analytics and health foundation models, wearable computing, or algorithm development for health applications.
• 3+ years of experience with TensorFlow or PyTorch and Python or C++.
• Experience with deep learning for time-series data, sequence models, signal processing, and sensor fusion.
• Familiarity with biomedical sensing modalities such as EEG, ECG, PPG, and SpO2.
• Experience with large-scale datasets, distributed computing, exploratory research projects, and high-impact AI/ML publications or top-tier journals.

Nice to have

• Understanding of clinical workflows, healthcare data privacy, HIPAA, FDA, and MDR requirements.
• Knowledge of wearable hardware constraints, power optimization, real-time processing, on-device ML optimization, and model compression.
• Experience developing proof-of-concepts for emerging sensing technologies.
