Director, Software Development Engineering - PE Platforms (AI)

Location: Based on-site at the headquarters in Pleasanton, California, with a flexible schedule requiring at least 50% of time each quarter in the office or in the field. The organization spans California, Atlanta, Dublin, and Chennai.

Annual base salary: $244,000–$366,000 USD for Pleasanton; additional US locations offer $205,200–$366,000 USD.

What you will do

• Lead a global organization of approximately 60 engineers, engineering managers, and architects.
• Build an agent-ready developer experience and delivery system in partnership with Product Management.
• Scale high-throughput build, test, and release infrastructure for an autonomous agentic development lifecycle.
• Drive platform reliability, developer productivity, and high availability for core delivery operations.
• Balance platform innovation with the deprecation and migration of legacy systems.
• Align technical strategy with Product, Security, Architecture, and executive leadership.

Requirements

• 12+ years of software development engineering experience, including technical strategy for complex products and platforms.
• 7+ years managing software engineering teams and 3+ years leading managers of managers.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience; a master’s degree is preferred.
• Experience mentoring teams working with Java, Python, Go, or C++.
• Experience with high-throughput CI/CD build engines, Docker, Kubernetes, and AWS or GCP infrastructure.
• Experience leading global, multi-site engineering organizations and presenting technical strategy to executives.

Nice to have

• Experience with Model Context Protocol, execution harnesses, and automated pull-request review or triage systems.
• Experience delivering automated testing engines, pipeline orchestration, and observability frameworks.
• Experience operating internal platform tools as products in partnership with Product Management.
