Scientist, Analytical Development (Lipid Nanoparticles)

Location: 100% onsite in Norwood, Massachusetts, United States. Due to U.S. export control requirements, only U.S. persons—citizens, permanent residents, asylees, or refugees—are eligible. hirify.global cannot sponsor non-U.S. persons for an export control license.

Salary: $109,200–$174,600 per year, with potential annual bonus, incentive compensation, or equity award.

What you will do

• Develop novel biophysical methodologies and identify opportunities for analytical technology innovation.
• Design and execute experiments for lipid nanoparticle characterization and analytical method development.
• Characterize lipid membranes, lipid-RNA complexes, and lipid nanoparticles, including surface and colloidal properties.
• Translate project goals into actionable plans and represent Advanced Characterization in cross-functional groups.
• Provide technical leadership across multiple pipeline programs and serve as a subject matter expert in structural characterization.
• Document and present scientific findings internally and externally.

Requirements

• Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related field with 0–2 years of relevant experience; or an M.S. with 8+ years; or a B.S./B.A. with 10+ years of relevant industry experience.
• Hands-on expertise with several structural characterization techniques, including SAXS, NMR, DSC, ITC, SPR, light scattering, or cryo-EM.
• Experience developing and optimizing biophysical characterization assays and troubleshooting complex technical challenges.
• Knowledge of analytical method development, pharmaceutical control strategies, and characterization of mRNA and lipid nanoparticles.
• Strong scientific communication, organization, prioritization, collaboration, and documentation skills.
• Must qualify as a U.S. person under applicable export control requirements.

Nice to have

• Practical experience with spectroscopic, physical, and thermodynamic techniques for mRNA and lipid nanoparticle characterization.
• Experience collaborating across Analytical Development, Process Development, Research, and other technical functions.
