TL;DR
Customer Proposition Development Manager, APAC (Academic Publishing/Commercial Strategy): Developing and testing scalable commercial propositions for underserved APAC customer segments, while supporting academic partnerships, content strategies, and publishing initiatives with an accent on customer insight, market analysis, and sustainable revenue growth. Focus on designing profitable propositions, piloting new models, building business cases, and coordinating editorial, commercial, marketing, finance, technology, and academic stakeholders across the region.

Location: Singapore; candidates must live and have the right to work in Singapore, within commuting distance of the Singapore office. Minimum 3 days per week in person. Relocation support is not provided.

What you will do

  • Analyze underserved B2B customer segments across APAC and gather direct customer insight on value, impact, and willingness to pay.
  • Design scalable and profitable commercial propositions with Commercial, Marketing, Editorial, Finance, and Technology teams.
  • Build business cases, pilot propositions with selected groups, manage beta testing, and support regional rollout.
  • Manage outsourced sales and commercial partnership resources while delivering agreed revenue and regional targets.
  • Support APAC content strategies, academic partnerships, knowledge exchange programs, workshops, and publishing initiatives.
  • Coordinate stakeholders and transition successful revenue streams to permanent owners as they scale.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of customer and market segments relevant to academic publishing, with a strong understanding of APAC market dynamics.
  • Experience in sales, marketing, strategy, or proposition development, preferably in APAC academic publishing or education.
  • Strong customer communication, influencing, listening, commercial awareness, project management, and planning skills.
  • Understanding of APAC cultural and business nuances, commercial partnerships, and outsourced sales models in Asia.
  • Knowledge of editorial processes, peer review systems, academic publishing workflows, and established APAC academic or research networks.
  • Must have the right to work and live in Singapore and be available for at least 3 days per week of in-person work.
