Complex Claims Examiner- Federal Workers Compensation (Defense Base Act)

Location: Atlanta, Georgia, United States; primarily in the office

Compensation includes base salary and eligibility for a bonus under the applicable incentive plan.

What you will do

• Handle and investigate complex Federal Workers Compensation claims, including Defense Base Act claims.
• Evaluate settlements, negotiate resolutions, and protect recovery rights where applicable.
• Manage litigation, reserves, and settlements with authority up to $500,000.
• Provide responsive service and build relationships with brokers, clients, lawyers, medical experts, injured workers, and internal stakeholders.
• Identify and review suspected fraudulent claims according to established guidelines.
• Mentor Claim Representatives and collaborate with underwriting colleagues to improve insurance products.

Requirements

• Knowledge of legal, regulatory, litigation, and procedural requirements for Federal Workers Compensation claims.
• Experience evaluating and negotiating settlements.
• Ability to interpret policy language accurately and consistently.
• Strong investigation, claims handling, problem-solving, communication, time-management, administrative, and report-writing skills.
• Ability to work primarily in the office in Atlanta.
