Assistant Professor of Petroleum Engineering (Reservoir Engineering)

Location: Laredo, Texas, United States; regular attendance on campus and in the workplace is required

Salary: Commensurate with qualifications; additional pay is available for summer teaching.

What you will do

• Establish an independent, externally funded research program in reservoir engineering.
• Teach reservoir engineering courses and additional petroleum or engineering courses as needed.
• Mentor student research and senior design projects.
• Collaborate with academic, industry, and government partners.
• Support student recruitment, accreditation, and School of Engineering service.

Requirements

• Ph.D. in Petroleum Engineering or a closely related discipline by the appointment start date; candidates nearing completion may be considered if the degree is awarded before appointment.
• Demonstrated expertise in reservoir engineering through research, scholarship, professional experience, or a combination thereof.
• Ability to teach reservoir engineering courses, mentor student research, and establish an independent research program.
• Strength in one or more areas including reservoir characterization and simulation, enhanced oil recovery, unconventional or fractured reservoirs, history matching and uncertainty quantification, coupled flow-geomechanics, CO2-EOR, geologic carbon storage, geothermal reservoir engineering, or subsurface gas or hydrogen storage.
• Regular face-to-face attendance on campus and in the workplace is required.
