TL;DR
Sr. Propulsion Engineer (PPMS Team) (Aerospace Propulsion): Designing, analyzing, and developing propellant and pressure management systems from concept through flight-maturity hardware with an accent on fluid networks, tanks, CAD assemblies, and propulsion testing. Focus on generating engine balances and P&IDs, analyzing hotfire data, and integrating propulsion requirements across structures, avionics, vehicle engineering, and test teams.

Location: Full-time onsite at the headquarters on Ellington Air Field in Houston, Texas, United States

What you will do

  • Design, analyze, manufacture, and test propulsion subsystems and assemblies.
  • Develop CAD models, detailed propellant feed systems, engine P&IDs, tanks, and supporting tank structures.
  • Model and optimize engine fluid networks and component performance.
  • Develop test plans, execute testing, and analyze test results and hotfire data.
  • Generate engine balances and requirements, evaluate engine cycles, and trade cycle efficiencies.
  • Collaborate with vehicle engineering, test, structures, and avionics teams to satisfy system requirements.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of aerospace vehicle and engine systems engineering or design experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in aerospace or mechanical engineering.
  • 3+ years of CAD experience, especially with large assemblies.
  • Experience with systems engineering, multidisciplinary projects, propulsion testing, fluid systems, structural or thermal analysis, and design for manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of aerospace materials, fluid-system components, and connections for high mechanical and thermal loads.
  • Must be able to meet U.S. ITAR requirements through U.S. citizenship, lawful permanent residence, protected-individual status, or applicable U.S. Department of State authorization.

Nice to have

  • Master’s degree in aerospace or mechanical engineering.
  • Experience with highly volume-constrained systems, engine or component testing, and project leadership.
  • Familiarity with Agile methods and aerospace standards including SMC-S-016, NASA STD-5012, AIAA S-080A-2018, and ANSI/ISA 5.1.
  • Experience standardizing design, analysis, and testing processes.
