Senior Software Engineer, Orchestration Platform (AI)

Location: San Francisco, CA; New York, NY. The salary section also references Seattle, WA.

Base salary: $216,000–$270,000 USD per year, depending on work location and qualifications. Eligible roles may also include equity and benefits.

What you will do

• Lead the architecture, implementation, and operation of the core orchestration platform.
• Build durable workflow infrastructure with Temporal, Cadence, Kubernetes, and cloud-native systems.
• Define APIs and platform primitives for scheduling, retries, state management, task execution, observability, and workflow lifecycle management.
• Partner with product, infrastructure, data, and application teams to create reusable workflow capabilities.
• Improve reliability, scalability, security, and developer experience for critical company workflows.
• Establish engineering standards and lead technical decisions for distributed workflow development, deployment, testing, and incident response.

Requirements

• 5+ years of full-time software engineering experience focused on backend, infrastructure, and distributed systems.
• Experience building and operating production systems requiring high reliability, availability, and hirify.global.
• Deep familiarity with workflow orchestration platforms such as Temporal, Cadence, AWS Step Functions, Kubernetes, or similar systems.
• Deep Kubernetes and containerized production-environment experience, plus familiarity with Terraform and Docker.
• Strong knowledge of asynchronous execution, retries, idempotency, fault tolerance, state management, and observability.
• Experience leading technically complex projects from design through rollout and ongoing operation, with strong communication skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with Snowflake, Firebolt, Dagster, or dbt.
• Experience with authentication and authorization systems such as Zanzibar or Authz.
• Experience scaling products at hyper-growth startups.
• Interest in AI technologies.
