Risk Analyst (Commodity Risk)

Location: Calgary, AB, Canada. Permanent legal authorization to work in Canada is required.

What you will do

• Process pricing and transactional data in ETRM systems and review commercial activity for compliance with commodity risk governance.
• Run commodity risk reports and prepare presentation materials covering pricing, positions, exposures, P&L, and GMaR.
• Perform analysis, reconciliation, independent validation, and investigation of market risk movements and drivers.
• Collaborate with commercial, operations, finance, treasury, IT, and audit teams to resolve discrepancies and explain risk impacts.
• Support reference data configuration, system upgrades, implementations, and enhancements in Allegro ETRM.
• Provide cross-commodity coverage and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Economics, Statistics, Finance, Accounting, or a related quantitative or business discipline.
• 1–3 years of experience in a Front or Middle Office role.
• Knowledge of commodity pricing, deal valuation, deal life cycles, and energy commodity markets.
• Experience with option models, volatility measures, VaR, GMaR, back-testing, and stress scenarios.
• Advanced Excel skills and experience with Power BI, SQL, and other business applications.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and prioritization skills; familiarity with ETRM systems is required, with Allegro Horizon experience considered an asset.

Nice to have

• Energy marketing experience involving NGL, crude oil, or natural gas markets.
• Experience with Allegro Horizon.
• Proficiency with programming languages.
