Software Engineer Intern (Defense)

Location: Fully on-site in Arlington, Virginia, United States. Ability to obtain and maintain an active Secret U.S. Security Clearance is required. Travel up to 10% may be required.

What you will do

• Develop, test, maintain, and modernize software applications and features.
• Integrate software components, APIs, containers, and third-party technologies into existing systems.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement capabilities and resolve defects.
• Write reliable, maintainable code and participate in code reviews, troubleshooting, and debugging.
• Support software deployment and sustainment throughout the software development lifecycle.
• Create technical documentation and development artifacts.

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or postgraduate program in software engineering, computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, data science, cybersecurity, mathematics, or aeronautical engineering.
• Familiarity with Git or similar version control systems, Linux environments, command-line tools, SQL, and relational databases such as PostgreSQL.
• Familiarity with Docker, Podman, or other OCI-compliant container technologies.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and collaboration skills.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain an active Secret U.S. Security Clearance.

Nice to have

• Automation scripting experience with Python, Bash, PowerShell, or Groovy.
• Experience maintaining, troubleshooting, or upgrading software applications and services.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, DevSecOps, secure software development, and Agile practices.
• Strong technical writing and verbal communication skills, initiative, and willingness to learn.
