TL;DR
Software Engineer Intern (AI): Developing, testing, and maintaining software applications and mission-critical capabilities for U.S. Department of Defense systems with an accent on automation, machine learning, data analytics, and secure software development. Focus on integrating APIs and third-party technologies, building automated deployment pipelines, and supporting software across cloud, air-gapped, and tactical environments.
Location: Fully on-site in Arlington, VA; Mount Laurel, NJ; or San Diego, CA
Salary: $28–$34 per hour

What you will do
- Develop, test, maintain, and modernize software applications and features.
- Collaborate with cross-functional technical teams to implement capabilities and resolve defects.
- Write reliable, maintainable code aligned with engineering, security, and quality standards.
- Participate in code reviews, troubleshooting, debugging, and technical documentation.
- Integrate software components, APIs, and third-party technologies into existing systems.
- Support the full software development lifecycle from requirements analysis through deployment and sustainment.
Requirements
- Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or postgraduate program in software engineering, computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, data science, cybersecurity, mathematics, or aeronautical engineering.
- Familiarity with Git, Linux-based environments, command-line tools, SQL, and relational databases such as PostgreSQL.
- Familiarity with container technologies such as Docker, Podman, or OCI-compliant containers.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work collaboratively.
- Ability to obtain and maintain an active Secret U.S. Security Clearance.
Nice to have
- Automation scripting experience with Python, Bash, PowerShell, or Groovy.
- Experience maintaining, troubleshooting, or upgrading software applications and services.
- Familiarity with CI/CD, automated testing, DevSecOps, secure software development, and Agile practices.
- Strong technical communication, documentation, initiative, and willingness to learn new technologies.
