Senior Principal Strategic Research Analyst (Machine Learning)

Location: Rockville, MD, with a hybrid work environment and defined in-person presence requirements. Some travel is required.

Salary: $154,400–$299,600 annually for Rockville, MD. Compensation varies by location, experience, education, skills, and market conditions.

What you will do

• Lead or participate in the strategic design of quantitative, multi-market, and multi-product surveillance and investigatory solutions.
• Process large volumes of multi-domain data related to market manipulation, market conduct violations, examinations, and investigations.
• Design and implement scalable technical frameworks for single-domain and multi-domain applications.
• Apply advanced statistical techniques and machine learning to identify regulatory patterns, trends, and actionable insights.
• Prepare clear written and visual analyses, recommendations, and status reports for senior personnel and stakeholders.
• Support the evolution of surveillance programs, regulatory impact assessments, new rules, strategic datasets, and special initiatives.

Requirements

• Graduate degree in Computer Science, Economics, Finance, or Business, with at least eight years of relevant experience; experience may substitute for an advanced degree.
• At least four years of machine learning experience.
• Strong statistical and software engineering skills.
• Substantial experience analyzing large datasets efficiently and at scale, including multi-terabyte distributed datasets.
• Ability to work independently, collaborate with senior staff, and communicate complex analytical results clearly.
• Ability to work in a hybrid environment with required in-person presence in Rockville, Maryland; some travel is required.
