Data Scientist - Optimization (Automotive)

What you will do

• Lead the design, development, deployment, and industrialization of mathematical optimization models for vehicle and parts supply chain planning.
• Formulate and operationalize models for demand planning, supply allocation, production, logistics, inventory, scheduling, routing, network design, and ETA improvement using Gurobi and Python.
• Translate business objectives, operational constraints, and process rules into decision variables, objective functions, constraints, and performance measures.
• Partner with business leaders, product owners, architects, engineers, and platform teams to embed optimization services into APIs, workflows, and decision-support products.
• Manage and coach data scientists, optimization engineers, analysts, and technical contributors while establishing modeling, code quality, validation, and operational standards.
• Oversee production readiness, including monitoring, re-optimization, exception handling, release management, scenario planning, explainability, and adoption.

Requirements

• Degree or equivalent professional experience in operations research, industrial engineering, applied mathematics, statistics, computer science, data science, engineering, supply chain management, or a related field.
• Demonstrated experience building and deploying optimization models with Gurobi or comparable solvers.
• Strong Python proficiency and experience with data science and optimization libraries such as pandas, NumPy, SciPy, Pyomo, OR-Tools, or scikit-learn.
• Experience with cloud-based analytics platforms, productionizing advanced analytics solutions, and working with imperfect data and competing operational objectives.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary teams and managing initiatives across scope, value, risk, budget, timelines, and resources.
• Strong communication and Agile/Scrum delivery skills, including backlog refinement, sprint planning, acceptance criteria, demos, and release readiness.
• Must have the right to work in the United States and must not require hirify.global immigration support or employment-based visa sponsorship now or in the future.

Nice to have

• Automotive industry and vehicle supply chain experience, including planning, allocation, logistics, manufacturing, inventory, scheduling, or transportation.
• Advanced degree in operations research, industrial engineering, applied mathematics, computer science, data science, or a related quantitative discipline.
• Experience with AWS, Azure, GCP, APIs, event-driven optimization, model monitoring, data governance, or knowledge-graph engineering.
• Experience combining optimization with machine learning, simulation, forecasting, reinforcement learning, or agentic AI.
• Experience creating reusable optimization frameworks, solver-tuning playbooks, model libraries, and decision-support products.
