Scientist I - Regulatory Affairs (Food Science)

Salary: $68,700-$94,500 annual base salary

What you will do

• Evaluate new food ingredients and technologies for compliance with applicable US and Canadian food regulations.
• Provide regulatory input on ingredient specifications and determine labeling terms for finished products.
• Respond to internal and external questions about ingredient use and function.
• Monitor emerging regulatory issues and support strategies addressing their potential impact on the business.
• Resolve regulatory questions with suppliers during ingredient and formula reviews.
• Oversee externally contracted ingredient safety evaluations with the Campbell toxicologist and maintain documentation supporting regulatory labeling.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Food Science or a related field.
• At least 2 years of experience, including internships and co-ops.
• Knowledge of food regulatory requirements and major regulatory issues affecting the food industry.
• Ability to work with cross-functional commercialization partners and communicate complex information clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with common food formulations and manufacturing processes.
• Experience participating in regional or global cross-functional innovation teams.
• Ability to interact appropriately with government officials and explain the company's position on regulatory issues.
• Project management skills, including managing timelines, budgets, goals, and accountabilities.
