TL;DR
Medical Assistant (Orthopedic Surgery) (Orthopedic Care): Supporting orthopedic surgeons and care teams with patient visits, pre- and post-operative care, imaging coordination, casting, splinting, and clinical documentation with an accent on hands-on treatment support and patient education. Focus on preparing patients for procedures, coordinating diagnostics and surgery scheduling, managing follow-up care, and maintaining accurate electronic medical records in a fast-paced specialty practice.

Location: Nashua, NH. Full-time onsite position with daytime hours from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

What you will do

  • Support orthopedic surgeons, advanced practice providers, nurses, and other care team members during in-person, telephone, and telehealth care.
  • Prepare patients for examinations, injections, procedures, and surgical consultations; obtain and document vital signs, histories, medications, and clinical information.
  • Assist with casting, splinting, wound care, dressing changes, and other orthopedic treatments.
  • Coordinate imaging, diagnostic testing, referrals, surgical scheduling, pre-visit planning, and post-operative follow-up.
  • Educate patients about surgical preparation, recovery expectations, post-operative care, and rehabilitation plans.
  • Maintain exam rooms, supplies, and equipment while completing scheduling, records, communication, care coordination, infection prevention, safety, and confidentiality activities.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Graduate of a Medical Assistant program or at least three years of relevant Medical Assistant experience.
  • Current BLS/CPR certification.
  • Strong communication, organizational, customer service, and computer skills, including proficiency with electronic medical records.
  • Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and exercise sound judgment in a clinical environment.

Nice to have

  • Current Registered Medical Assistant or Certified Medical Assistant certification.
  • Experience in an orthopedic or surgical specialty practice.
  • Knowledge of orthopedic conditions, procedures, casting, and splinting techniques.
  • Experience supporting surgical patients through pre- and post-operative care.
