Chemical Engineering Technician

Location: Penrose, Colorado, United States; full-time onsite role with a 9/80 schedule

Salary: $27.00–$32.00 per hour

What you will do

• Assist with the stand-up and operation of pilot facilities supporting chemical and black powder research.
• Install, repair, and maintain piping systems, NPT fittings, plastic piping, sanitary fittings, and related plumbing systems.
• Operate pilot plant equipment with the engineering team and resolve operational issues.
• Maintain and repair pumps, valves, hardware, structural systems, and other mechanical equipment.
• Troubleshoot mechanical and basic electrical issues, maintain spare-parts inventory, and minimize equipment downtime.
• Collaborate with operations, quality control, and research and development teams to bring pilot systems and facilities online.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent with 4+ years of relevant industrial or mechanical technician experience, or an Associate’s degree in Engineering Technology with 2+ years of relevant experience.
• Strong analytical, communication, time-management, and problem-solving skills.
• Knowledge of hand and shop tools, including power tools, saws, and grinders.
• Understanding of hardware and plumbing sizing, material selection, and material compatibility.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, occasionally stressful environment.
• Must be a US citizen or national, lawful permanent resident, or protected individual under 8 USC 1324b; must also meet applicable ITAR and EAR requirements.

Nice to have

• Basic electrical systems knowledge and ability to troubleshoot with a digital multimeter.
• Fabrication experience, including mounting and modifying existing equipment in place.
