Senior Accountant, Commercial Accounting (Automotive)

Location: Remote; candidates living in or able to relocate to the Detroit metro area are preferred. Applicants must be authorized to work permanently in the United States.

Annual base pay: $85,431–$140,840 USD

What you will do

• Manage end-to-end accounting for accessories and merchandise, including revenue recognition under ASC 606 and principal-versus-agent assessments.
• Own inventory accounting, including cost of goods sold, adjustments, reserves, physical reconciliations and monthly roll-forwards.
• Manage customer returns, including reserve estimation, recording and reconciliation with operational systems.
• Design and validate transaction flows with IT and Digital teams, including API feeds between e-commerce platforms and the ERP.
• Lead monthly close activities and product-line profitability reporting, while partnering with FP&A on budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis.
• Build scalable processes and internal controls, support SOX readiness, external audits and financial statement disclosures.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA or CPA candidacy preferred.
• At least 3 years of relevant accounting experience; public accounting experience is a plus.
• Deep knowledge of ASC 606 and hands-on experience with principal-versus-agent determinations in merchandise or e-commerce.
• Experience with inventory accounting, COGS, reserves and physical count reconciliation.
• Proficiency with ERP systems, preferably SAP, and advanced Excel skills.
• Permanent authorization to work in the United States is required; visa sponsorship is not available.
