TL;DR
Mission Operations Internship - Summer 2027 (Aerospace) (Python/Java/JavaScript): Developing and deploying full-stack web applications and internal tools for spacecraft and payload operations with an accent on automation, scalability, and mission-critical reliability. Focus on system verification, infrastructure integration, debugging, and supporting live spaceflight operations.

Location: Full-time, on-site internship in Los Angeles, California, United States. Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States and qualify as a U.S. person for access to export-controlled technology.

Hourly rate: $37.00

hirify.global develops commercial space infrastructure, including in-orbit pharmaceutical processing systems, reentry capsules, heat shields, and satellite buses.

What you will do

  • Join the Mission Operations team supporting the development, planning, and execution of on-orbit missions.
  • Own the full-stack development lifecycle of internal tools for spacecraft and payload operations.
  • Develop, test, and deploy web applications that improve automation and scalability as mission cadence increases.
  • Contribute to system verification, infrastructure integration, and debugging of mission-critical code.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to implement initial use cases and support real-time mission operations.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in an accredited undergraduate or graduate degree program in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
  • Full-stack coding experience with Python, Java, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, C, C++, or nginx.
  • Experience deploying, executing, and debugging server-based applications.
  • Coursework in Python programming or full-stack development; orbital mechanics coursework is preferred for computer science candidates.
  • U.S. work authorization and U.S. person status are required because of export-controlled technology access.

Nice to have

  • Experience building scalable web applications and applying software data management and scaling techniques.
  • Experience applying code to aerospace systems or other complex, high-reliability environments.
  • Familiarity with continuous integration pipelines and Linux environments.
  • Previous internship, co-op, real-world development, or hands-on project team experience such as CubeSat, Solar Car, or Formula SAE.
