Senior System Concepts Engineer

Location: Cambridge, Massachusetts, United States; on-premises work is required as tasks dictate.

Base salary: $82,300–$220,000 per year.

What you will do

• Execute systems engineering lifecycle assignments independently and adapt solutions to changing program priorities.
• Elucidate mission needs and explore architecture and design trade spaces for integrated hardware/software systems and systems of systems.
• Perform simulation-based performance analysis and apply engineering analysis techniques to complex technical challenges.
• Define architectures using digital engineering and model-based systems engineering frameworks.
• Identify system-level technical risks and develop mitigation strategies.
• Lead small multidisciplinary teams, mentor engineers, and brief results to leadership or government sponsors.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, physics, mathematics, or a related field; a master’s degree or higher is preferred.
• 5–10 years of experience as a systems engineer or in a related role.
• Practical experience with systems engineering processes and simulation-based performance analysis.
• Strong organizational, oral, and written communication skills with a system-level perspective.
• Ability to solve complex problems with limited direction, lead small teams, and mentor less experienced engineers.
• Ability to obtain and maintain at least a Secret-level government security clearance is required; existing clearances are preferred.

Nice to have

• Experience with modeling and simulation, computer language coding, descriptive modeling such as SysML, STPA, or other engineering analysis tools.
• Knowledge of GN&C, avionics architectures, fault tolerance, cybersecurity, communications and encryption, or threat modeling.
