Co-op Software Engineer (AI)

Location: Rochester, New York, United States; on-site at least three days per week, with five days Monday–Friday preferred. The co-op runs from January 2027 through August 2027.

Salary: $22/hour

What you will do

• Build, test, and deliver software solutions in a collaborative Agile/Scrum environment.
• Collaborate with Scrum team members and stakeholders on plans, designs, specifications, source code, test scripts, and documentation.
• Use AI-assisted tools to improve productivity, solve technical problems, automate routine work, and enhance software quality.
• Develop debugging skills and troubleshoot software issues with appropriate tools.
• Contribute to service architecture and basic software functions while avoiding duplicated code and breaking interface changes.
• Apply secure software design, development, and delivery practices.

Requirements

• Must be based in the Rochester, NY area and available to work on-site at least three days per week.
• Must be authorized to work for any employer in the United States; visa sponsorship is not available now or in the future.
• At least three years of education and/or prior co-op experience.
• Familiarity with Java, Angular, Oracle, OpenShift, Python, and/or ASP.NET.
• Knowledge of object-oriented programming, RESTful web services, relational databases, Agile/Scrum, and test automation.
• Ability to use AI ethically, securely, and compliantly while protecting confidential information and retaining accountability for final work products.
