Senior Director, R&D Capability Enablement (Biotech)

Location: Remote in Canada

Salary: CAD 192,525–260,475 per year

What you will do

• Translate R&D strategy, scientific priorities, and workforce plans into capability roadmaps and learning investments.
• Lead instructional designers and oversee role-based learning journeys, curricula, academies, and end-to-end learning experiences.
• Build shared R&D capability architectures, proficiency frameworks, and learning pathways across clinical development, data science, translational science, and research.
• Oversee training governance, process learning, readiness expectations, and performance checks for priority functions and critical roles.
• Develop advanced capability programs for high-potential talent, including internships, rotations, mentorship, and targeted AI application academies.
• Establish content standards, content management practices, learning analytics, dashboards, and business-impact evaluations for R&D learning programs.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree and 10+ years of experience in learning and development or a related field.
• Strong expertise in adult learning, instructional design, performance consulting, and digital learning ecosystems.
• Experience designing and scaling enterprise-wide or function-wide capability strategies.
• Experience building capability frameworks, role-based learning journeys, curricula, academies, or development programs across multiple functions.
• Experience leading instructional designers or learning design teams and managing broad learning portfolios.
• Experience with learning analytics, content governance, executive stakeholder management, and presenting strategy and findings to senior R&D leaders.

Nice to have

• Significant experience in pharmaceutical or biotechnology R&D.
• Advanced degree in organizational psychology, science, or a related field.
