What you will do

• Lead independent and collaborative applied and translational public health research.
• Conduct studies in epidemiology, health promotion, chronic disease prevention, behavioral health, and community-engaged research.
• Develop competitive proposals for federal, state, foundation, and industry funding.
• Publish findings in peer-reviewed journals and present research at professional conferences.
• Mentor graduate and undergraduate students and junior scientists.
• Build partnerships with community organizations, public health agencies, and other stakeholders.

Requirements

• Ph.D. in Public Health, Epidemiology, Population Health, Environmental Health, Health Promotion, Health Data Analytics, or a closely related field.
• At least six years of public health or related research experience.
• Knowledge of public health principles, epidemiological and biostatistical methods, and research design.
• Knowledge of laboratory, field, or technical equipment relevant to public health research.
• Proficiency with data analysis software such as SAS, SPSS, R, STATA, or equivalent.
• Employment is based in Prairie View, Texas.

Nice to have

• Experience leading community-based participatory research initiatives.
• Evidence of scholarly publications and successful external grant funding.
• Experience mentoring students or early-career researchers.
• Familiarity with public health accreditation and reporting standards such as CEPH.
• Experience improving health outcomes for underserved and rural populations.
