Research Associate (Agricultural Research)

What you will do

• Conduct independent or supervisory research activities in field, greenhouse, and laboratory settings.
• Execute experiments and oversee quality control, including field plot evaluation, irrigation, soil sampling, harvesting, greenhouse work, and nematode laboratory assays.
• Prepare proposals for funding agencies and operate research and laboratory equipment.
• Supervise graduate students and other laboratory or field personnel.
• Transport farm equipment and materials to field sites using an agency vehicle and large flatbed trailer.
• Operate tractors and harvest equipment, assist with planting, weed control, plot layout, and seed packaging.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and two years of related professional experience.
• Experience operating farm equipment, including tractors and harvest equipment.
• Valid Class A license, or ability to obtain one within six months of employment.
• Familiarity with laboratory or technical equipment, databases, statistical analysis, and applicable software.
• Ability to lift up to 80 pounds, walk several miles on field soil, multitask, and work cooperatively.
• Must be able to work outdoors in heat and tolerate dusty conditions during the May–November growing season.
