Lead Architect - Database and Data Platform

Location: GA - Atlanta, United States

Annual base salary: $169,400.00–$279,600.00, plus eligibility for performance-based cash incentive awards.

What you will do

• Own architecture for multiple technology or business domains within a business unit.
• Lead enterprise database migration and modernization across SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL, MariaDB, MongoDB, AWS, and Azure database services.
• Design end-to-end data platforms covering ingestion, storage, processing, transformation, and consumption across hybrid and cloud environments.
• Define standards for block, file, object, and archive storage, including high availability, replication, security, observability, disaster recovery, and cost optimization.
• Develop migration roadmaps, reference architectures, FinOps models, infrastructure-as-code standards, and platform reliability practices.
• Partner with business and technology stakeholders, mentor engineers and DBAs, and provide architectural thought leadership.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, a related STEM field, or equivalent education and work experience.
• At least 7 additional years of architecture or software engineering experience and at least 2 years of technical leadership experience.
• 8–10 years of architecture experience, with advanced architecture expertise and recent hands-on engineering experience.
• Experience executing complex, large-scale technology strategies, defining target states and roadmaps, and supporting transformational change in an agile operating model.
• Strong knowledge of AWS cloud-native data and database technologies; Azure and GCP knowledge is beneficial for multi-cloud and hybrid scenarios.
• Strong communication, collaboration, decision-making, mentoring, and leadership skills; insurance technology experience and insurance industry knowledge are preferred.
