What you will do

• Develop and lead research examining indoor air quality in retrofit environments at the Energy House.
• Design experimental protocols for evaluating retrofit products, materials, ventilation systems, and related interventions.
• Conduct measurements in Energy House facilities and other project locations.
• Deploy, operate, and maintain sensor systems and research-grade atmospheric instrumentation.
• Coordinate experiments with the Research Associate in Sustainable Materials and integrate indoor-air-quality and material-sustainability evidence.

Requirements

• Have or be close to obtaining a PhD or equivalent qualification in atmospheric science or a closely related discipline.
• Demonstrate specialist knowledge of atmospheric composition measurements and their application to indoor or outdoor air quality.
• Have experience designing and conducting atmospheric measurement studies.
• Have experience with quantitative data processing, quality assurance, analysis, and interpretation.
• Understand the physical and chemical processes influencing indoor air quality.

Nice to have

• Experience measuring indoor air quality in homes, test buildings, or occupied environments.
• Experience with online mass spectrometry, including Chemical Ionisation Mass Spectrometry, or other advanced gas- or particle-phase measurement techniques.
• Knowledge of emissions from building materials, consumer products, or retrofit interventions.
• Experience investigating ventilation, damp, and mould-related indoor-air-quality problems.
• Experience with controlled intervention studies or building-performance experiments.
